Pakistan-based accounts claimed, “Qatari intel arrested 2 Indian nationals on suspicion of spying for Israel, after Israeli strikes in Qatar.” Multiple other users were found sharing the same claim, which can be viewed here and here.
Fact Check
Upon investigation, we found the claim to be fake.
There have been no reports from credible media outlets or official sources confirming the arrest of Indian nationals on such charges.
In August 2022, eight former Indian Navy officers were arrested in Doha; however, by February 2024, all eight were released and repatriated.
In January 2025, another Indian national was detained in Qatar, but no formal charges have been made public yet. An NDTV report stated that India is providing all possible assistance to Amit Gupta, an Indian citizen from Gujarat’s Vadodara, who has been wrongfully detained in Qatar for allegedly stealing data, for which an investigation is ongoing, according to people familiar with the matter.
Conclusion
Thus, it is evident from the fact-check that the viral claim is false. No such arrests of Indian nationals on suspicion of spying for Israel have taken place in Qatar.
