Claim

A video is going viral on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) which shows a missile launch from Pakistan Army. Claimant say it is attack launched on India.

User named, Pakistan military (@Pakistanmilita) has shared this video with a caption, “Pakistan has launched missile strikes against targets inside India.”

Another user, this time a verified user, has shared the same video. The user, Defense Intelligence (@DI313_) has shared with similar caption as shared by Pakistan military, “BREAKING Pakistan has launched missile strikes against multiple targets inside India.” The post has hashtags incorporated in it.

Fact Check

To investigate the viral claim, the DFRAC conducted a reverse image search of the key frames from the video. This led our team to a news report by The Diplomat, published on February 4, 2019.

Conclusion

Hence, it is clear by the fact check by DFRAC that the viral video is an old video. This video does not represent the present-day tension between India and Pakistan. This video is actually 6 years old and is test launch video of Nasr missile in Pakistan.

The original video is published on ISPR official YouTube channel and many media outlets have discussed about this missile launch.

Therefore, this video is misleading.
