Furthermore, many users have shared this video, links to those posts are here, here, and here.

Fact Check

To investigate the viral video, the DFRAC conducted a reverse image search of keyframe from the video. This led our team to the news reports about an accident in Kottakkal, Malappuram in Kerala.

A news report by mathrubhumi.com states that a pedestrian was hit by a car in Kottakal, Malappuram. The accident happened when she was walking with the child. The woman is seriously injured. The child miraculously escaped unharmed. The accident took place last Saturday near Kottakal HMS Hospital. Badaria, a native of Kottakal Swagatamad, was injured. The accident happened while picking up her son Emir Muhammad from Anganwadi. Badiria is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The video on the Mathrubhumi’s site shows that the car driver came to her rescue.

Another news report by reporterlive.com gives similar information about the accident and also provided age of the woman, Badaria is 33 years old. In this report, she is a native of Swagathamadu. Badaria, sustained injuries after a car ran over her. She was admitted to a private hospital in Kottakal. Her child who was accompanying her miraculously survived the ordeal.

Conclusion

Hence, it is proved by the fact check that the video is indeed from India (Kottakal, Malappuram), but the viral video doesn’t show the driver coming to woman’s rescue after running over her. The claims of a minority muslim woman can be run over by a car simply for wearing a burqa! India; a Hindutva-driven terrorist state seems overstated. The viral video doesn’t show that fact that the driver who ran over the woman came to her rescue afterwards. This seems like an accident and not what the claimant says that a Muslim woman was simply run over by a car because of her identity or clothing. This seems exaggerating.

Therefore, the claim made in the viral post is misleading.
