Fact check: Did PM Modi gave a warning about nationwide riots? Know the truth behind the viral video

A video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going viral on social media. Via this video, it is being claimed that PM Modi has issued a serious warning about riots and bloodshed across the country. Along with this, there is also an appeal for Hindus to stay cautious.
In this viral video, PM Modi can be heard saying, “Today, these people have started speaking openly, they have started attacking openly. Tomorrow onwards, these people will only increase their attacks on us. Every Sanatani, every person who loves this country, who love the soil of this country, and every person who loves the crores of people in the country, needs to stay vigilant. They want to erase Sanatan and revert this country back to a thousand years of slavery.”

Fact Check
To verify the viral claim, the DFRAC used the InVID tool to convert the viral video into keyframes. We conducted a reverse search from those keyframes. During the process, we found a similar video on YouTube. The video was posted by the official channel of PMO India on YouTube on 14 September 2023. The caption of the video reads:
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the public at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Petrochemical Complex at Bina Refinery and other development projects at Bina, Madhya Pradesh. The PM said that the modern Petrochemical complex will take Bina to new heights, following which new industries will come and MSMEs will get opportunities, and ultimately the youth will get job opportunities. The projects as a whole are worth more than Rs 50,700 crore. This refinery, which will be developed at a cost of about Rs 49,000 crore, will produce about 1200 KTPA (Kilo-Tonnes Per Annum) of ethylene and propylene.”
As part of our investigation into the viral claim, we also reviewed Prime Minister Modi’s full speech. During the speech, at 18:30, PM Modi targeted the INDI-Alliance (or India Alliance, formally) and said:
“My family members, on one hand, today’s India is showing the world its capability to unite. On the global platforms, our India is emerging as a world friend. On the other hand, there are some parties who are working to divide the country and society. They have formed an Indi-Alliance. Some people even call it the ‘arrogant alliance.’ Their leader is undecided, there is confusion over leadership. But in their recent meeting in Mumbai, I think they decided how this arrogant alliance will function, its policies and strategies. They have also prepared a hidden agenda.
What is this policy strategy? The policy of the Indi Alliance, this arrogant alliance, is to attack India’s culture. The decision of the Indi Alliance is to attack the faith of Indians. The intention of this arrogant alliance is to destroy the very ideas, values, and traditions that have united India for thousands of years. Inspired by Sanatan, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar worked for social causes across the country, ran campaigns for women’s empowerment, and protected the faith of the nation. This arrogant alliance, this Indi Alliance, has come with the resolve to destroy these Sanatan values and traditions.”
It was the strength of Sanatan that Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi was able to challenge the British, saying, “I will not give up my Jhansi.” The same Sanatan that Mahatma Gandhi followed throughout his life, with Lord Shri Ram inspiring him, and his last words being “Hey Ram!” The same Sanatan that inspired him to lead the movement against untouchability, this Indi Alliance, this arrogant alliance, wants to destroy this Sanatan tradition.
It was the same Sanatan that inspired Swami Vivekananda to raise awareness about the various social evils in society. The Indi Alliance wants to destroy that Sanatan. It was the same Sanatan that inspired Lokmanya Tilak to take up the cause of India’s independence, to connect Ganesh worship with the freedom movement, and to establish the tradition of public Ganesh festivals. Today, this same Sanatan is being targeted for destruction by the Indi Alliance.
Friends, it was the strength of Sanatan that during the freedom movement, martyrs who were hanged used to say, “In my next life, I wish to be born in the lap of Mother India again.” The Sanatan culture is a reflection of Sant Ravidas, it is the identity of Mata Shabari, it is the foundation of Maharishi Valmiki, and it has kept India united for thousands of years. These people now want to break this Sanatan into pieces.
Today, these people have started speaking openly, and they have started attacking openly. Tomorrow, they will escalate their attacks on us. In every corner of the country, every Sanatani, every person who loves this country, who loves the soil of this country, and every person who loves the millions of people of this country needs to stay alert. They want to erase Sanatan and push this country back into a thousand years of slavery. But together, we have to stop these forces, with the strength of our organization and the unity of our people, we will thwart their plans. (Translated into English)
Conclusion
Therefore, DFRAC’s fact check clearly shows that the viral video is misleading. A part of an old video from a year ago is being shared with a communal twist to it. In the viral video, PM Modi did not give any warning about a nationwide riots. Instead, he accused the India Alliance (or, as he calls it, Indi Alliance) of trying to destroy the Sanatan culture.
