Viral Video of Congress Leaders Dancing Misrepresented as Post-Election Celebration

Aayushi Rana February 10, 2025
Mr sinha fake news

The BJP is set to form a government in Delhi after more than 26 years with a sweeping win over the AAP and Indian National Congress in the Delhi Elections. The Congress party, which had previously ruled the capital, failed to gain a single seat. Amid this backdrop, a video circulating on social media claims that Congress leaders were celebrating despite not winning any seats in the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections.

A user named Mr Sinha shared the video on X and claimed, ” Celebration at Congress HQ as they maintain their previous result: Zero.”

Others were also found sharing the matching claim which can be viewed here, here and here.

Fact Check

On investigation, the claim was found to be False. Upon conducting a reverse image search, it was found that the video had been posted by multiple X users in January 2025. The posts stated that Congress Media and Publicity Chairman Pawan Khera was performing Bhangra during the launch of the party’s official theme song for the Delhi elections at the Congress office.

Further verification led to the official YouTube channel of the Congress party, where the full-length video was found dated 23 Jan 2025. The caption confirmed that the event was the official launch of their election campaign song.

Additionally, a Times of India (@TOIIndiaNews) report from January 23, 2025, stated that the Congress party had released a new campaign song titled “Har Jarurat Hogi Puri, Dilli Mein Congress Hai Jaruri” (Every need will be fulfilled, Congress is necessary in Delhi) for the upcoming elections.

Conclusion

Thus from the fact check it is evident that the viral video is misleading and has been falsely linked to Congress Party members celebrating the Delhi assembly election results. In reality, it was recorded during the launch of their campaign song before the elections in January 2025.
