Several Pak handles took to social media platform X(formerly Twitter) and asserted their claims on the order that directed students attending and participating in the political rallies organized by ABVP in J& K.
“Forcing students in IIOJ&K to attend an ABVP rally is an abuse of education, & is a blatant misuse of education. It disregards students’ rights and pushes divisive ideologies.” cited by various pak-based handles on X.
X handle named Kashmir English posted an image and wrote: “Forcing students in J&K to attend an ABVP rally is an abuse of education, using it for political propaganda. Education should promote critical thinking, not serve Hindutva agendas. Kashmir’s youth deserve unbiased learning, not indoctrination”
Another handle named Subcontinent Insider posted the screenshot of the order and claimed: “Forcing students in J&K to attend an ABVP rally—a group notorious for promoting anti-Muslim bigotry—is a blatant misuse of education. Schools should foster inclusivity and critical thinking, not be tools for H1π*dutva propaganda”
In addition, numerous other Pakistan-based handles made similar claims regarding this particular order. The preview link can be seen here & here.
Fact-Check
The DFRAC team investigated these claims and found them to be false.
In our probe, a keyword search in this regard led us to the latest reports from Republic, The New Indian Express, India Today, and The Economic Times.
According to the reports, the J&K government on Saturday banned the education department from passing any directions to students or staff for participation in political programs or rallies. The ban, issued through a circular by the School Education Department, comes after the government faced criticism from various quarters over an education department circular directing Poonch authorities to participate in a Tiranga rally of the RSS-affiliated ABVP.
Not only this but, we also found a screenshot of the circular’s hard copy on the X handle of Sakina Itoo, Minister of Education in J &K in support of this ban.
Conclusion
DFRAC’s fact-check clearly shows that the claims made by Pak-based handles are completely false since the J & K government has taken an immediate and effective step of banning the order that directs students to participate in any political programs and rallies.
