We investigated the viral claim by running a keyword search on Google. On investigation, the claim was found to be False. According to a media report by First Post dated December 17, “Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister has resigned, amid increasing tensions with Justin Trudeau. Chrystia Freeland, who also served as the country’s finance minister, stepped down from both posts on Monday (December 16), sending shockwaves through Ottawa.”
Furthermore, we checked the Canadian media outlet CBC News, which stated, “Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faced frustrated MPs at a hastily arranged caucus meeting late Monday following Chrystia Freeland’s shocking decision to resign from cabinet just before she was to deliver the government’s much-anticipated fall economic statement.”
Neither of the reports mentions the official resignation of Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister of Canada. Additionally, a review of official accounts for Justin Trudeau and the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office revealed no such announcement.
Additionally, we found an official X account of Chrystia Freeland where she announced her resignation.

Thus from the fact check it is clear that the claim that Justin Trudeau has resigned as Prime Minister is false. The rumors likely came from Chrystia Freeland’s resignation as Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Canada on December 16.
