A user named Radar posted this image and wrote: “South Korean protesters march towards presidential palace demanding his resignation”
Fact Check
During the investigation, DFRAC found the claim to be false. We found several media reports carrying similar images. According to ‘Euro News‘ published on December 3, 2016 “For the sixth consecutive Saturday, tens of thousands of people took to the streets to call on parliament to immediately remove President Park from the office”.
Furthermore, we also found a report from ‘ABC News‘ published on December 4, 2016, stating”Hundreds of thousands of South Koreans have rallied in Seoul on Saturday in the sixth straight weekend of protests demanding the resignation of scandal-tainted President Park Geun-hye.”
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact that the image has been falsely linked with the recent protests in South Korea. The image actually dates back to 2016, during protests against President Park Geun-hye.
