Fact-check

In the probe, the DFRAC team found that a contractual worker had been arrested by the Gujarat unit of the Anti-Terrorist Squad for allegedly sharing sensitive information regarding the movement of Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ships with a Pakistani spy

We performed a Google keyword search in this regard, which led us to various reports by India Today, News 18, and One India. The reports carried the same image of the arrested individual as shared in the above claim.

According to reports, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested a contractual worker for allegedly sharing sensitive information on Indian Coast Guard ships with Pakistani agents. The accused, Dipesh, reportedly used to receive Rs 200 per day for sharing intelligence about the movement of Coast Guard ships.

Dipesh, who worked at the Okha port, had been in touch with the Pakistani agent with whom he was connected through the social media platform Facebook, said officials aware of the matter.

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the above-shared claim has been misleadingly shared on X. A contractual worker has been apprehended. not an Indian Navy personnel.

Analysis: Misleading
