Fact Check: Old Video of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock falsely linked with China visit

On social media, a video of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has gone viral. While sharing the video users claim that “The Naz! German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock arrived to China where no one met her No one has to deal with vicious criminals.”

Moreover, several users shared this video and made similar claims. The link can be seen here, here and here

Fact Check

During the investigation, DFRAC found that the claim was false. We found a media report from ‘DW’ carrying a screengrab from the video published on 16 Jan, 2024 stating “When German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock met her Malaysian counterpart, Mohamad Hasan, in Kuala Lumpur on January 12, she was on day six of a trip that had taken her from the Middle East to Southeast Asia.

Furthermore, we also found a tweet from the official X handle of ‘GIC Southeast Asia’ uploaded on 19 Jan, 2024 with the caption “A visit to partners – enjoy the video recap of Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s visit to SoutheastAsia.”

Conclusion

It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video is not of Annalena Baerbock’s visit to China. It was shot at Kuala Lumpur Airport in Malaysia in January. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.

Fact Check: No, Pakistan’s J-10C Did Not Shoot Down an Indian Rafale Over the LoC Dramatic silhouette of a Chinese-made J-10C fighter jet in mid-flight against a vivid sunset sky, with its afterburner trail illuminated in the twilight. The image was featured in a viral social media post by a Pakistani defense account, falsely claiming that the aircraft had successfully shot down an Indian Rafale jet during an aerial encounter over the Line of Control (LoC). The claim was later fact-checked and debunked by Indian authorities as misinformation.
