Multiple videos of Fire falsely linked to Hezbollah- Israel conflict

Israel and Hezbollah have threatened to intensify their cross-border attacks, disregarding calls from the international community to de-escalate and step back from a potential all-out war. Following this misinformation have been surfaced on social media platforms.

A video of a fire has gone viral on X. While sharing the video a user named Mehdi Studio wrote “Hezbollah turned Israel to Isra-Hell. Thank you, Hezbollah & More Power to Syed Hassan Nasrullah”.

Fact Check

During the investigation, DFRAC found that the video was made combining multiple videos. We found that the first part of video was from Algeria. We discovered a similar video on Facebook page of ‘Ici Constantine’ uploaded on 8 August with caption indicating that celebrations of the anniversary of the founding of the capital’s Mouloudia.

Morerover, similar video was found on YouTube channel of  ‘AL24News’ titled “Mouloudia d’Alger fans light up major world capitals on the 103rd anniversary of the club’s founding”.

Furthermore, we found that the second part of video was from Indonesia. We found a similar video on Instagram posted on 22 August with caption “A fire occurred at the Sangkulirang Market Location, Benua Baru Village, This incident occurred early Thursday morning, 08/22/2024”.

Conclusion

It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video was made combining multiple videos. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
