On social media, an image of a man lying on a stretcher is going viral. While sharing the image users claim that “Peace loving Rahmatullah of Haryana’s Mewat had made the n#de photo of Maa Sita viral on social media, then a mentally ill youth Naveen attacked him, now this Rahmatullah is resting in the graveyard”.
Fact Check
On investigation, DFRAC found that it is an old incident. We found a tweet from Mohd Furkan Idrisi uploaded on 3 July 2022 with caption “Samiullah (38), of Chitradurga, Karnataka has been stabbed horrifically. He is the Incharge of Jama Masjid Alur, appointed by Waqf Committee. Yesterday, while returning after offering Maghrib Namaz around 7:00 PM, he has been allegedly attacked by Nutan Gowda”.
Furthermore, we also found a tweet from Official X handle of Chitradurga District Police uploaded on 3 July 2022 stating “On 02nd July 2022 a boy naming Nuthan(22)Stabbed Samiullah at Alur village, Hiriyur Tq, Chitradurga Dist, Injured Samiullah is being treated at Basaveshwara Medical collage & hospital Chitradurga, Karnataka and he is out of danger”.
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that this incident dates back to 2022 and from Karnataka not from Haryana. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
