A video capturing a street full of people, with some of them throwing objects at an unseen target, has been making the rounds on social media. A loud bang occurs, escalating the situation and causing one person to fall amidst what looks like a small explosion.
Sharing the video, users on social media have claimed that the video belongs to Jammu & Kashmir. Users are writing,” In J&K, a boy threw a stone at an army soldier, the soldier immediately shot him. This system should have been in place from the beginning.”
Fact Check
DFRAC investigated the viral video and the claim. We came across Spanish media reports where the viral video was found. An article dated 9 August 2022, by Bolivision Tv, it featured the same viral video with the caption,”(VIDEO) The life of the man who suffered an explosion of dynamite in his hand, tends of a thread”.
According to a media report by Notigramdated 14 August 2022, “Local media reported a cocaster who suffered from an explosion in his hands following the dynamite he was holding to attack the authorities. Security elements responded with tear gas and the use of force, so protesters reacted with homemade bombs. A video was broadcast on social media in which one of the subjects suffers from this explosion.“
Conclusion
Thus from the fact check it is clear that the video is from 2022 Bolivia and not from Jammu & Kashmir. DFRAC Analysis: Misleading
