On social media, a video of lightning goes viral. While sharing the video users claim that there is a temple in Himachal Pradesh where lightning strikes every 12 years. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Fact Check
On Investigation, DFRAC found a similar video on YouTube channel of CTVNews uploaded on 13 May, 2024, stating “A spectacular sight was captured on camera in Guatemala as a thunderstorm coincided with an eruption of the Volcan del Fuego”
Further, we also found a report from CBSNews News dated 15 May, 2024, mentioning “A lightning bolt struck an erupting volcano in Guatemala, wowing spectators who gathered to see the Volcán de Fuego.”
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that this video dates back to May 2024 and from Guatemala, Central America not from Himanchal Pradesh, India. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
