Amid the news of recent Nepal Plane Crash, a video showing the last moment before a plane crash is making waves on social media platform X(formerly Twitter). Users are sharing this video and claiming it to be from recent plane crash that has taken place in Nepal’s capital.

An account with the username @Mrutyunjayaswa9 shared this video on X and wrote: ” #WATCH Netizens captured the moment of a Plane crashed during takeoff at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal”

Moreover, the video has been shared by many users with similar claims.

Fact-Check

A reverse-image search of the keyframes from the viral video led us to Youtube platform where we found the same clip in the form of shorts posted by The Economic Times on Jan 15, 2023. The clip’s caption read:” Nepal plane crash: Moment When Yeti Airlines aeroplane crashes in pokhara“

Additionally, Reports from Voice of America and Reuters published on Dec 28, 2023 covered this incident. As per reports, a ATR 72 owned by Yeti Airlines crashed just before landing in the tourist city of Pokhara on Jan. 15 & took the lives of 72 people.

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the viral video has been falsely associated with the latest Nepal plane crash. Originally, the video was from Jan 2023 Yeti Airlines plane crash.
Hence, the claim made by social media users is false.
