A massive fire broke out on board the INS Bramaputra while undergoing a refit at the naval dockyard in Mumbai. A junior sailor has been reported missing for whom a search is in progress. After this news, several Pak handles took to social media platform X(formerly Twitter) and alleged that unknown men planted explosives in the INS Bramaputra that caused a massive fire and severe damage in the vessel.
Ironclad, better known for spreading misinformation on X posted an image of this mishap and wrote: “#BREAKING: Massive News

In addition, many pak-based handles shared this image and made similar claims.
Fact-Check
To determine the reality of the viral claim, the DFRAC team conducted a keyword search on Google and came across some latest reports in this regard. Reports from The Times of India and Firstpost featured a tweet by Journalist Nitin Gokhale. As per this tweet, the cause of the fire and sinking of INS Brahmaputra will be determined by an enquiry.
Furthermore, the reports also stated that an inquiry had been ordered by the Indian Navy to investigate the incident. A latest report by India Today also asserted a similar fact along with other details about this incident.
Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the claim stating fire erupted in a Navy warship due to the explosives planted by an unknown man is completely fake. No such reports are claiming who and what caused the fire. The Indian Navy has ordered an inquiry which would further reveal the cause of this incident.
