Amid this, a video showing an individual screaming “Slash Republican throats’ is going viral on social media platform X(formerly Twitter) with the false claims that it shows Trump’s assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Fact-Check

Upon reverse-searching the key frames generated from the viral video, the DFRAC team found the same video on the official X handle of Students for Trump at ASU posted in the Feb 2020. The video’s caption read: “CRAZY LEFTIST ON COLLEGE CAMPUS”.

Furthermore, Azcentral, Dailymail.co.uk & Campus reformalso reported this news in Feb 2020. As per reports, the student organization, Students for Trump at ASU posted a video on Twitter this evening, which shows a man screaming in front of a table of the students who promoted Trump on the ASU (Arizona State University)campus.

 It can be concluded that Thomas Matthew Crooks was in high school in 2020. He belongs to Pennsylvania where the assassination attempt on Trump took place.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’s fact-check that the viral video does not show Trump’s shooter Thomas Mathew Crooks since he would be a 15 to 16-year-old boy who had been in high school in 2020.
