On social media, a video of the Former DGP Devendra Kumar Chauhan from Uttar Pradesh Police goes viral. While sharing this video users claim that Devendra Singh Chauhan says “For the first time as a police officer, I have seen such a Chief Minister who never interferes in our day-to-day work. Whom to arrest, whom to put in jail.” In this video, Former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav can be seen giving medals to the police officers, showing the text: it’s not easy to be Akhilesh Yadav. Users also write Akhilesh Yadav has been the best CM of UP.

Fact Check:
On investigation, DFRAC found this video on the YouTube channel of ‘News18 UP Uttarakhand’ on March 26, 2023, in which “the law and order of the Yogi government were discussed with DGP Chauhan”.
At the Timestamp of 15 min. 55 sec. of this video, the anchor asks DS Chauhan whether he is leaving any benchmark behind to which Chauhan replies, “I will just say that our popular Chief Minister, the most respected Yogi Adityanath ji, I thank him from the bottom of my heart for giving me and my team such an opportunity in which we could serve the public”.
Further, he says “I want to tell you that for the first time as a police officer, I have seen such a Chief Minister who never interferes in our day-to-day working. Whom to arrest, whom to imprison, whom to deploy where he does not interfere in all this.”
Conclusion:
DFRAC’s fact check clears that former DGP DS Chauhan has not praised Akhilesh Yadav. This video is from the year 2023 in which DGP can be seen talking about CM Yogi Adityanath’s coordination and less interference with police officers. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.
