Amid Iranian President Raisi’s visit to Pakistan, a claim has been widely shared by several Pak users on social media site X(Twitter) stating that Iranian President Raisi has supported Pakistan on the Kashmir issue.
Taking to X(Twitter), a user named Waqas Khan wrote: “Iranian President stated : Kashmir and Gaza is the eternal issue of Iran and Pakistan, and we will take that with full force”
Moreover, it is tweeted from the official X handle of Pakistan’s President: “The President appreciated Iran’s principled stance and its consistent support to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and their right to self-determination”
Fact-Check
The DFRAC team conducted a keyword search on Google in the context of the above claim. We found some media reports from The Economic Times, The Wire, Aajtak, and NDTV World. As per media reports, Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif raised the issue of Kashmir beside Palestine with the Iranian President. However, the Iranian President did not express any views on the Kashmir issue, he only mentioned Palestine in his statement.
Furthermore, our team also examined a live stream by Pak media org GTV NETWORK HD of a joint press conference of Pak PM Sharif and Iranian President Raisi. It can be seen in this press conference that Shahbaz talked about Kashmir before Raisi, but the Iranian President did not mention Kashmir in his address.
Conclusion
DFRAC’s Fact-Check clearly shows that the claim made by Pakistani social media users is fake as the Iranian President has not supported Pakistan on the Kashmir issue nor has he made any statement regarding Kashmir.
