A disturbing video has gone viral where a girl can be seen thrashed by a group of people. Sharing the video a user named Faryal Sikder (@FariSikder) claimed, “A ten-year-old Shudra maid is severely beaten by a Rajput Chauhan family for touching the Bhagavad Gita in Rajasthan, India. These Hindus have no sympathy for the lower caste Hindus. How can they be our friends?”. (translated into English)
It is noticeable that the same account has been found sharing fake news against India using the #boycottIndianProduct hashtag.
Fact Check
We investigated the viral video and the claim. Using the keywords, we found a media report by the Times of India dated Dec 29, 2021. The media report informed the incident took place in Amethi, UP where the minor Dalit girl was beaten over suspicion of theft.
Concerning this, we also checked the official Twitter account of Amethi Police. In a press note released by them, police informed that three accused who beat up the minor girl were arrested by Amethi police station, Amethi district.
The Circle Officer, Arpit Kapoor said the accused have been booked on charges of sexual harassment, and under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. “All the three accused, Shubham Gupta, Rahul Soni and Suraj Soni, have been arrested,” he added.
Conclusion
Thus, it is confirmed that the video is from 2021 and the strict action against the accused was conducted by Amethi Police.
