Fact-Check

The DFRAC team investigated the above viral video. Meanwhile, we found some media reports from the year 2023 in the context of the viral video.

A media report by Next Shark dated April 23, 2023, stated: “Charlie Evan, a 23-year-old French national, was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of punching a woman in the face and leaving her injured on the streets of Tokyo’s Minato ward. According to local reports, Evan and his group of friends collided with a woman in her 20s, causing her to drop her lunch box and leading them to fight”.

Moreover, another media report by Tokyo Reporter also cited similar facts regarding the above viral video.

Conclusion

 It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the attacker’s name is Charlie Evan who is a French national. However, there was no mention of a Muslim Arab in media reports.
