A video is being peddled on social media of Kashmir. Sharing the video an account named Kashmir xtalogy wrote, “First Kashmiris are brutally martyred and then their bodies are desecrated. Kashmiris are treated worst”

Fact Check

We reverse-searched the video by putting it into different keywords. During the process, we found the images posted on the Facebook Page of  RNS 24×7 Media, a local Kashmiri media platform, matching the viral video. The post was dated 30 August 2020.

Furthermore, the image of the house, matching the video, was also found on the Instagram page of Kashmiri Journalist Faisal Bashirs which also dated 30 Aug 2020.

The incident in the video was about the Srinagar Encounter Operation conducted on 30 Aug 2020. Three militants were killed in the gunfight who had fired on a joint ‘naka’ of police & CRPF at Pantha Chowk. Assistant Sub Inspector of J&K police lost his life during the encounter.

Conclusion

Thus from the fact check, it is clear that the viral video is an old one, from the year 2020. It is being shared with misleading claim.
