Israel-Palestine conflict started on 7 October 2023. It’s been a month and is still going on. Some people, to gain views on social media, are spreading false claims. We bump into one such claim that Palestinians put on makeup to show that they are suffering in the conflict.
Claim made by the user
A verified user Abhijit Majumder on the X platform shared a video and wrote “The art of manufacturing truth. #Pallywood”.
Claims made by other users
The same video was shared by many other users and they made similar claims.
Fact Check
We converted the video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. We found the same video was uploaded on the Instagram account of Mahmoud Ramzi. He is a film director from Lebanon. The video which is going viral is a short movie ‘ The Reality’ which was made by him.
The director of the film also mentioned in his story that this is just the enactment of the suffering of people and it is from Lebanon.
Moreover, we also found the video was uploaded by the actor who played the role in this film.
Conclusion
Hence, it is clear from the DFRAC’s fact-check that the claim made with the video is misleading. This is a short film made in Lebanon and is not from Palestine.
