Fact Check
To investigate the truth of the viral claim, DFRAC team searched some keywords on Google and found some media reports.
Media reports
Reuters in their media report mentioned: “Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said any move to drive Palestinians across to Jordan, which shares a border with the West Bank, was a “red line” amounting to a declaration of war.
“Any attempt to expel Palestinians in an attempt by Israel to change geography and demography we will confront,” Safadi said last week”.
Furthermore, we found media reports by The Times of India and Hindustan Times which also took the instance from the media report of Reuters.
Moreover, we also found a video related to the statement in which it is mentioned that Safadi said any attempt to displace Palestinians would be a ‘war crime’, the video was uploaded on YouTube channel of Hindustan Times dated 19 October 2023.
Conclusion
Therefore, it is clear from DFRAC’s fact-check that the viral claim is misleading as this statement was made by Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi not Jordan’s Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh.
