A video of Navy warships parading in the sea was shared widely on social media. Social media users are linking the video with the involvement of Turkey in the Israel – Palestine conflict.
What is the claim?
A verified account named Sprinter, shared the video and wrote, “For the first time in history, 100 warships of the Turkish Navy began moving in the Bosphorus Strait”.
Following this account, other Twitter users also started sharing the video with similar claims.
Fact Check
We investigated the viral claim along with the video. We found the tweet of Official Twitter Account of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Defense. The video was shared on their account with the actual description of the event.

The tweet reads,” The parade with 100 warships through the Bosphorus continues with all its magnificence.”(Translated into English)
On further investigation, we found that it was The Turkish Naval Forces Command that organized an official parade involving the passage of 100 warships through the Bosphorus Strait. This event was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye. The parade was named,”100 Ships in the 100th Year”

Our team also found multiple Turkish media houses which covered the news.
Daily Sabah published the article dated Oct 2, 2023, which wrote,” The ships including TCG Anadolu, an amphibious assault ship capable of staying at sea for 50 days, commissioned earlier this year were set to participate in the official parade in the Istanbul Strait.”
In addition to these media reports, we also found the video of the Parade on YouTube. The description of the video reads,” President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the Republic Day Celebration Events organized in the Bosphorus for the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic. Within the scope of the event, ships and submarines of the Naval Forces Command passed through the Bosphorus.”
Conclusion
Henceforth, from the investigation, we found that the viral claim is Misleading. The warships in the video are moving for the parade in honor of the centenary of the Republic of Turkey. There is no linking of the video with the Israel – Palestine Conflict.
