To confirm the truth of this viral news, the DFRAC team investigated the accident and Amir Khan’s news. During this time, we came across a tweet from ANI, which mentioned that the South Eastern Railway (SER) had debunked those reports claiming that Amir Khan, a signalling junior engineer, fled after the Balasore train accident.
SER’s chief public relations officer, Aditya Kumar Chaudhary, has cited recent media reports which had claimed that after fleeing with his family, police sealed Khan’s house. He mentioned that all employees are present and participating in the investigation. The CBI and the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) are reaching out to them wherever they say.
In addition, we also came across a tweet from the official spokesperson for the Indian Railways, which mentioned the aforementioned statement.
Therefore, it is clear from DFRAC’s fact-check that the news of JE signal engineer Amir Khan fleeing with his family is fake.
