Fact Check:
To fact-check the viral claim, the DFRAC team obtained different information about all the plans. Our investigation has revealed that all the schemes have been started for minority communities. So first of all, who are in the minority community?
“The Ministry of Minority Affairs was constituted in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 29th January 2006 to focus on matters relating to notified minority communities, namely, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, Parsis, and Jains. The mandate of the Ministry is to formulate a comprehensive policy for the benefit of minority communities and to review the program on planning, coordination, evaluation, regulatory framework, and development. ”
Shadi Shagun Yojna:
As claimed in the viral post, the Shadi Shagun scheme is given only to Muslim girls. So the DFRAC team first searched on Google about the Shadi Shagun scheme. We got a report from ‘Amar Ujala’. According to this report, the Pradhan Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojana was started on August 8, 2017. This scheme has been started with the aim of promoting higher education among the girls of the minority society of the country. Under this scheme, the central government gives an amount of Rs 51,000 to girls of minority communities who complete graduation before marriage.
