FactCheck: Was actress Tunisha Sharma Pregnant with her Muslim Boyfriend when she died?

DFRAC Editor December 26, 2022 2 min read

The sudden death of 20-year-old actress Tunisha Sharma has shocked people deeply. Many types of claims related to her death are going viral on social media. Meanwhile, a claim is doing rounds on the internet that she was pregnant at the time of her death.

A Twitter user named @RituRathaur wrote, “So allegedly 20yr old  #TunishaSharma was pregnant & her “Abdul” refused to marry her leading her into depression & then suicide. One more Hindu girl lost to Abdul. When will Hindus & their girls learn lessons? How many more will get trapped by Abduls’?”

Similarly, a YouTube channel named Spider Bollywood also uploaded a video with the title, “Tunisha Sharma Was Pregnant and Wants to Marry Sheezan, But He Refused to Marry Her.”

Likewise, many other social media users have shared this claim.

Fact Check:

On keyword search, the DFRAC team found an article published in the timesofindia.indiatimes.com, “Tunisha Sharma’s postmortem report rules out pregnancy; police say no ‘love jihad’ or blackmailing angle found.”

Further, the article mentions that, “her postmortem report revealed that Tunisha was not pregnant and she died of suffocation. Meanwhile, police said that Tunisha was stressed due to her breakup with Sheezan Khan and that drove her to take the drastic step. “

Conclusion:

According to Tunisha’s postmortem report, she was not pregnant. Hence, the claim of social media users is wrong.
