Amid the ongoing FIFA World cup in Qatar, a video is going viral on social media platforms with the claim that songs in support of Palestine were sung in the stadium.
Sharing the video with a Twitter user @shalkakh wrote, “whole stadium sung for Palestine #FIFAWorldCup.”
Similarly, many other users have shared a similar claim.
Fact Check
On reverse image search of different keyframes of the video, the DFRAC team found the similar video on the YouTube channel named yo-yo. The video was uploaded on 25th September 2019 with the headline “Moroccan Football Fans Show Solidarity with Palestine.”
In the description of the video, it was mentioned that “Supporters of Raja Casablanca expressed their support for the Palestinian cause during their team’s game against the Palestinian team Hilal Al-Quds.”
Conclusion
Hence, from the fact check it is clear that the viral video is seven-year-old. Therefore, the claim of social media user is misleading.
