A picture is getting viral on social media. In this picture, many leaders including BJP leaders LK Advani and Narendra Modi can be seen. It was claimed that this picture was from 1990 when LK Advani took out a rath yatra from Somnath in Gujarat to Ayodhya in UP.
Users who shared this picture are claiming that when LK Advani was arrested by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s government in Bihar, his charioteers ran away from there. Users were referring to Narendra Modi. One user wrote- “Advani’s Rath Yatra. When Lalu ji arrested Advani in Samastipur, Bihar, Modi got down from the chariot and ran away.”
One user wrote- “When the DM of Samastipur RK Singh #Arrested LK Advani ji in 1990, The charioteer of his chariot was ran away by wrapping up his bag from the chariot!” ( English Translation )
Fact check:
To fact-check the originality of the viral claim, DFRAC searched on Google about rath yatra and arrest. According to the report of Dainik Jagran, LK Advani stayed at the Circuit House in Samastipur. His public meeting was to be held at Patel Ground the next day. Advani was arrested at night when all the workers left to prepare for the public meeting.
Meanwhile, according to the news nation report, Narendra Modi was planning and managing this rath yatra. After which, in view of his hard work and dedication, he made Murli Manohar Joshi the charioteer of Rath Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
At the same time, the team did a reverse search on Google to fact-check this photo. We received a report from Aaj Tak. The report was titled – “How was the atmosphere in Somnath when Advani went on a rath-yatra with the resolution of Ram temple”.
The viral picture has been used in this report. According to this, when the Rath Yatra took place, the situation of Somnath was told. It appears that this photo is from when the Rath Yatra was forthcoming out of Somnath.

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that the claim of social media users is wrong. The photo which was shared is not from Bihar but from Gujarat.
