A picture of a newspaper cutting is getting viral on social media sites. The title is, that the book written on the mystery of Netaji’s death has a sensational exposure and headline, “Nehru was involved in the robbery of the treasury of the Azad Hind Fauj!”

A Twitter user V-shuddhi captioned “Chacha’s contribution will always be remarkable”(English Translation) along with the picture of the cutting of the same newspaper.

Fact check:

To analyze the viral claim, DFRAC did a simple search on the internet with the help of certain keywords and key phrases. Meanwhile, DFRAC got reports published by several media houses.

In 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declassified the digital version of 100 secret files related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the National Archives in New Delhi. Since then, such debates have gained further rush.

netajipapers.gov.in

According to jansatta’s report, file number-25/4/NGO-Vol 3 mentions Netaji’s treasure. As per the report, document, about $ 7 00,000 was looted from the treasury.

The report further quoted that according to the files, KK Chatur, head of the Tokyo mission, wrote to Commonwealth Relations Secretary BN Chakravarty about this treasure on May 21, 1951. He had raised uncertainty over bose’s two assistants — Propaganda Minister SA Iyer and Indian Independence League’s Tokyo head Munga Ramamurthy.

Jansatta’s Report

According to the report of Navbharat Times, Anuj Dhar first mentioned in his book the looted treasure of the Azad Hind Fauj. Published in 2012, the book was titled ‘India’s Biggest Cover-Up.’

Navbharat Times has wrote, quoting the report of R.D. Sathe – he has confirmed, “Iyer’s activities in Japan were suspicious.”

Navbharat Times

As per the report, of Jansatta, the compatibility between Tokyo and New Delhi between 1951 and 1955 shows that Nehru made A.S. Iyer, a publicity advisor accused of looting the treasury in 1953.

According to media reports, nowhere in the 100 secret files related to Netaji, it is not that Nehru was directly or indirectly involved in this loot. There is also a serious allegation against AS Iyer, which has not been proved yet.

It is known that the above claim has viral in the past, which can be seen here.

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that the claim made by social media users by sharing the cutting of the newspaper is unproven, fake, and misleading because it was found nowhere that Nehru was directly or indirectly involved in the loot of Netaji’s treasury.
