FactCheck: Misleading video of the Indian Railway manhandling e-commerce parcels went viral.

A video is going viral on social media platforms where people are throwing out the e-commerce parcels from the train. DealzTrendz shared the video with caption, “That’s how the Indian railway handles e-commerce parcel.”

Soon the video went viral will hundredths of retweets and thousands of likes. Till now the total views on the video is 2.9M.

Similarly, many other users have shared this video with similar claims. An archived version of the tweet can be seen here.

FactCheck

On keyword search, the DFRAC team found a tweet from the verified account of Northeast Frontier Railway clarifying that this is an old video.

The tweet mentioned that, “This is an old video from March, 2022. Rajdhani Express at Guwahati Station. The persons handling parcels are representatives of concerned party. Railways offers booking of parcel space on a contract basis to various parties.

Further, Northeast Frontier Railway clarified, “As per guidelines issued in Freight Marketing Circular No. 05 of 2022 dated: 22 Feb 2022. It is the sole responsibility of the party to load/unload their parcels from SLR/parcel vans at Destination or intermediate station.”

Conclusion

The viral video is old. Hence, the claim of social media users is misleading.
