Fact Check: Did FATF has removed Pakistan from Grey List?

The FATF GREY list is prepared by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), an intergovernmental body formed to combat money laundering. It was established in July 1989.

A piece of news is getting viral on social media from the Twitter handle of @SouthAsiaIndex which states, “Just IN:— FATF has removed Pakistan from the grey list after its 3 days plenary in Berlin, Germany.”

Fact Check:

We at DFRAC searched specific Keywords to know the authenticity of the piece of information.

We found a report of the Hindustan Times with the headline, “Pakistan won’t be removed from FATF grey list immediately, decision after onsite visit.”

We searched the Google to know about the countries that are in FATF grey list and found Pakistan on number 14 in the list.

Conclusion:

From the search it is clear that the piece of information shared by south Asia index is misleading.
