Amid Prime minister’s Narendra Modi Chennai trip on 26th of May, a graffiti is getting viral on social media with the words written as “Go Back Modi” on it. The picture is claimed to be of Chennai and it is said that the graffiti is a protest of Chennai residents against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in the city.
People all over the internet are sharing an image of graffiti with different captions.

Fact Check:
As such images, of graffiti were already getting viral initially from different states of the country like Bihar. We reverse searched the image to know its authenticity. We at DFRAC found the graffiti is not from Chennai or Bihar. It is the image from the Anti-CAA protest in Kolkata in January 2020.
The news and the image of the graffiti are on many local news sites of Kolkata like eisamay.com. the headline was, “ Assamese students march in city, researchers in London.”(translates bengali)
The news was also covered by India today. The headline was, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi leaves Kolkata, protesters shift venue.”

Therefore the image of graffiti is getting viral with the misleading claim. As the image is not from recent times but is from year 2020.
