Is Instagram Turning Into A Hub of Hatred for Dalits

The literal meaning of Social Media varies from person to person, where it is a boon to many, it may turn out a bane to others. As people say social media gives voice to the voiceless it is definitely true to some extent, but it also gives voice to the anti-elements of our societies.

These anti social elements have such stereotypes in their minds that nothing beneath or above it, work for them. They are all heads down busy spreading hatred among different communities and people.

This through social media has now become very easy. This is such a pity on the part of the nation. The youth who could be a great asset to the country is actually becoming a liability. When one thinks about the century we live in i.e 21^st century  thinking of such stereotypical mindsets is difficult for the one living in a positive space, but it does exist and nothing can eradicate it unless and until they themselves take a call on that.

To our amazement, we witnessed a hell lot of accounts on Instagram spreading the hatred in different sections of society such as :On one side there were accounts that are degrading women, there are others that degrade the Bahujan samaj/Dalits.

To users of such Accounts women have to be poise, pure , pativrata , well shaved, well-groomed, in short, should meet the standards of beauty that one has set. The word “FEMINIST” is taboo to them. We have witnessed many posts and memes where women are mocked for being the real self on Instagram.

The level of spreading Hatred is not limited to women,but has also involved Dalits in its circle.

Dr.BhimRao Ambedkar who drafted our constitution is also being trolled on social media sites. All these efforts are to drag the maximum amount of hatred in different sections of society. People show their agitation against Bhimrao as he was the one who advocated the reservation for the SC/ST(schedule Caste/Tribe), OBC(Other Backward Classes), etc.

Various accounts are created on Instagram which shows the level of hatred people have in their minds.

As BhimRao Ambedhkar started The Neo Buddhist movement where he created new schools for Buddhists called Navayana in 1956 and nearly half a million Dalits joined him and converted themselves to navayana buddist. A lot many memes are shared on Instagram on this movement too as this moment rejected Hinduism, challenged the caste system of India, and promoted the rights of Dalits.

The word Moolnivasi is also spread in the form of several memes to degrade Dalits

Some accounts are showing Brahmin Supremacy over Dalits and causing disharmony among the society.

CONCLUSION:

The main purpose of such images and memes is to spread negativity and ruin the communal atmosphere of the nation. Such acts give fuel to the fire. Entire this thing adds nothing but only forms a wall between different sections of the society.

Hence, fulfilling the agenda set by the anti-national elements of the society.

We suggest investigating such issues and users on Instagram so that all such humiliating activities can be stopped as no one shall own the power to defame and demine any women or Dalit of the society.
