FactCheck: Has Mayawati Pledged To Support BJP In UP assembly polls? Know The Reality Of The Viral Video

Vidhan Sabha elections are very near in Uttar Pradesh. Consequently, many news are coming every day regarding it. Some are real but many are fake or misleading. Today, DFRAC has come up with one such news for the readers. The news is regarding BSP leader Mayawati. Meanwhile, sharing the clip on 8th February 2022 Rambhakt Somesh Singh wrote which nearly translate into English, “Now even the aunt has spoken to the babua. No Lal Topi, Kala Kot, no vote for SP ”

Similarly, other users shared this clip on their social media handles.

On our FactCheck analysis, we found that users are misleadingly sharing this video.

The print uploaded the video on Oct 29, 2020. The viral video is a clip taken from this video. In the video, Mayawati had said that in the then-upcoming MLC elections  in UP her party would vote for the BJP or any other party’s candidate to defeat the SP’s “second candidate.”

Therefore, from our FactCheck analysis, it is clear that users are misleadingly sharing the viral clip. Mayawati has not pledged to vote for BJP in the upcoming UP elections
