As the election comes, the trend of making misleading statements on the opposition parties and their members start. Also, the stories of individual members or groups of some MLAs and MPs changing their party are very common to hear. One such piece of news is getting viral on social media platforms these days. Linking a video along with the tweet, the users are claiming that Shivpal Yadav is unhappy with his nephew Akhilesh Yadav’s behavior. Further, they also claim that he is all set to join BJP.
Along with the tweet, the user wrote in the caption which nearly translate into English, “There is pain on ABP News of uncle Shivpal, Akhilesh does not want to talk even on the phone and Yogi Ji talks on the phone in one go.” Similarly, hundreds of users post this news on the social media handle.
On our FactCheck analysis, we found that the video is a clip from the program named Shikhar Sammelan aired on ABP News. Above all, this is an old video uploaded on YouTube on August 12, 2021. Although, in the interview, he expressed his unhappiness towards his Nephew Akhilesh he never made any statement regarding joining the BJP. However, He did say that if given respect, he can join Samajwadi Party again.
Moreover, we found a tweet of 19 an, 2021 on the official handle of Shivpal Singh Yadav. In the post, he squashed the rumors spread about him. He stated,” there is no truth in Laxmikant’s claim that I can join Bharatiya Janata Party, this claim is completely untrue and baseless. I am with the Samajwadi Party alliance led by Akhilesh Yadav and call on my supporters to overthrow the BJP government of the state. Also, I appeal to the supporters to ensure the Samajwadi Party forms the government in the Uttar Pradesh.”
Hence, on our fact check analysis, we found that the news of Shivpal Yadav joining BJP is completely false. DFRAC request their readers not to make any conclusion from any misleading statements or tweets.
