Attacks on minority Hindus have reportedly increased in Bangladesh. Amid this, a video showing a sadhu being beaten is being widely shared on social media. Users are claiming that the video shows a Hindu sadhu being assaulted in Bangladesh. While sharing the video, a user named Riniti Chatterjee wrote: “No one is ready to take notice of the condition of Hindus in Bangladesh #HinduLivesMatter #SaveBangladeshiHindus.”
Some users are also sharing the video while demanding that retired Indian soldiers be sent to Bangladesh. A user named Thakur Sahab wrote: “I say the Modi government should send all retired soldiers to Bangladesh. I guarantee these extremists will be dealt with in two hours.”
Fact Check:
The DFRAC team investigated the viral video and found that it is actually from Tanda Railway Station in Punjab, where a sadhu was beaten on allegations of child theft. The video was shared on December 14, December 17, and December 21 by an Instagram user named sagararjeet, who described it as a video of a sadhu being beaten for allegedly attempting to steal a child.
In response to a comment on the video, Arjit Sagar stated that he himself recorded the video.

Arjit Sagar also shared another video related to the incident, showing a reporter covering the event. In that video, the reporter can be heard in Punjabi stating that the incident is related to an attempted child theft at Tanda Railway Station.
The video was also uploaded on the Instagram channel the_voice_of_haryana, along with the following information: “The incident is from Tanda Railway Station in Punjab, where several people can be seen severely beating a sadhu. It is alleged that the sadhu tried to kidnap a child. As soon as this came to light, people became enraged, caught the sadhu, and brutally assaulted him.”
To gather more details, our team contacted GRP Tanda. The GRP informed us that the person who was beaten had tried to take a child away a few days earlier. When people spotted him again in the area, they caught him and assaulted him.
Conclusion:
DFRAC’s fact check clearly shows that the video shared on social media is not from Bangladesh. It depicts an incident from Tanda Railway Station in Punjab, where a sadhu was beaten on allegations of child theft. Therefore, the users’ claims are misleading.
