Viral Collage claiming Indian Soldiers martyred in Pakistan’s ‘Operation Bunyan Um Marsoos’ is False

Fact Check en

A Pakistan-based account and media house shared a collage of martyred Indian soldiers, claiming they were killed during Pakistan’s “Operation Bunyan Um Marsoos,” launched in response to India’s “Operation Sindoor.”

A Pakistan-based news outlet Kashmirdigital.pk shared the collage and claimed that New Delhi has finally acknowledged the heavy cost of the war of attrition, releasing images of the 228 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the conflict. According to reports, most of these deaths were the result of the Pakistan Army’s precision strikes, which targeted Indian air bases and air defense systems.

Another account has shared the claim stating, “Pictures of Indian Defense Forces who got killed during Pakistan’s Operation Bunyan Um Marsoos, launched in response to Indian Operation Sindoor.”

Fact Check

Upon investigation, we found the claim to be fake. No credible media outlet has reported anything related to such operations. Additionally, the collage is misleading. It includes images from different years when Indian soldiers lost their lives in terror attacks and anti-terror operations.

The collage includes images from multiple unrelated events:

1. Photos from the Pulwama attack, where 40 CRPF personnel were killed by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and from the Pathankot Air Force Base attack.

2. A photo from the tragic flash floods in Sikkim, where eight Indian Army soldiers lost their lives, and another from the Uri terror attack.

3. An image from Arunachal Pradesh, where three soldiers were killed and several were injured after their bus fell into a deep gorge in Upper Subansiri.

Conclusion

The viral claim is fake. The collage has been fabricated using images from multiple past incidents, terror attacks, natural disasters, and accidents, where Indian soldiers were martyred. It does not relate to any  “Operation Bunyan Um Marsoos” or “Operation Sindoor.”
