Kamran Khan January 28, 2025
DFRAC Fact Check

Maha Kumbh is being organized in India with great pomp and splendor. It will continue till the 26th February. Meanwhile, news is coming that many big personalities have gone to the Maha Kumbh mela 2025 and taken a dip there.

Amid this, on social media, multiple images of WWE Wrestler John Cena and Brock Lesnar have gone viral. While sharing the image, users wrote, “John Cena And Brock Lesnar in Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj”.

A viral Facebook post claims WWE wrestlers John Cena and Brock Lesnar visited the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj. The image collage features Cena and Lesnar dressed in traditional Indian attire, wearing rudraksha malas and holding saffron flags with Hindu religious symbols and slogans like 'Jai Shree Ram.' The background includes a large crowd, suggestive of a religious gathering. The post is heavily tagged with hashtags related to the Kumbh Mela, Hinduism, and WWE. However, fact-checking suggests the images are AI-generated or digitally altered, not authentic photographs from the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025.

Fact Check

During the investigation, DFRAC found the claim to be false. We did not find any media reports regarding the visit of John Cena and Brock Lesnar to the Maha Kumbh Mela. Upon closer inspection, we discovered a discrepancy in John Cena’s fingers.

A digitally altered image showing WWE superstars John Cena and Brock Lesnar at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj. Both wrestlers are dressed in traditional Indian attire, wearing rudraksha garlands, and holding a saffron flag with religious inscriptions. The background features a large crowd, resembling a religious gathering. Fact-checkers have identified inconsistencies in the image, such as unnatural hand positioning and AI-generated distortions, confirming that the viral photo is manipulated and not authentic.

Additionally, we examined the viral image using AI image detectors such as ‘Hive Moderation’ and ‘Sightengine.’ Both detectors confirmed that the image was AI-generated.

A fact-checking analysis of viral AI-generated images falsely claiming that WWE wrestlers John Cena and Brock Lesnar visited the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. The image features results from Hive Moderation and Sightengine AI detection tools, both confirming with over 99% accuracy that the photos are AI-generated or manipulated. One manipulated image shows Cena and Lesnar in traditional Indian attire with rudraksha garlands, while another depicts them holding a saffron flag featuring a lion's face. The findings, shared by fact-checking platform DFRAC, debunk the misinformation circulating on social media.

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC’s fact check that the viral image of John Cena and Brock Lesnar is AI-generated. Therefore, the claim made by social media users is fake.
