A pak-based handle took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and shared an image of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar holding a placard at Times Square, New York and requesting an invitation for Trump’s inauguration

An X handle named Kashmir English posted this image and wrote: “Trump’s inaugural guest list includes Xi & Meloni, but not Modi! Despite Jaishankar’s desperate lobbying in DC, Modi’s invite remains elusive. Is Trump sending a message to India?”

Fact-check

The DFRAC team investigated the above-shared image using AI image detectors such as Hive Moderation, sight engine, and Was it AI. The image was found to be AI-generated.

Apart from this, we performed a keyword search related to Trump’s inaugural event and stumbled upon some reports from several media outlets such as VOA, AP and CBS News. The reports stated that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump had invited Chinese President Xi Jinping and other foreign leaders to his inauguration next month in Washington.

Apparently, the names of PM Modi and S Jaishanker did not appear in these reports.

Conclusion

DFRAC’s Fact-check clearly shows that the above-shared image of the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar holding a placard at Times Square, New York requesting an invitation to Trump’s inauguration is AI-generated

Analysis: Ai-generated
