Fact Check: Video from 2022 of Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar’s Meeting Falsely Shared as Recent

A video is viral on social media. In this video, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is seen meeting RJD leaders Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav and Rabri Devi. Users are sharing this video and claiming that it is Nitish Kumar’s meeting with RJD leaders on September 6. 2024. Along with this, they are also claiming that there will be a big political change in Bihar in the coming days.
A user shared the video and wrote, “The chances of a game happening in Bihar are increasing. Today Nitish Kumar ji and Lalu Yadav ji went to meet at each other’s residence. This is the second meeting of Nitish ji and Tejashwi ji within 3-4 days.”
Fact Check
The DFRAC team investigated the viral video and found this video on a YouTube channel named OTV on 5 September 2022. Along with which it is told that Nitish Kumar met Lalu Prasad Yadav.
At the same time, we found a report published on the website of Hindustan newspaper on 5 September 2022. In which Nitish Kumar’s meeting with RJD leaders (Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, and Rabri Devi) has been mentioned.
This report states that Nitish Kumar reached Rabri’s residence to meet RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav before going on a Delhi tour on 5 September 2022. Nitish Kumar is going on a three-day Delhi tour, where he is likely to meet opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sitaram Yechury, and Arvind Kejriwal.
Apart from this, we found a tweet of ANI dated 5 September 2022, which talks about Nitish Kumar going to Delhi and meeting RJD leaders.
Conclusion
Thus, the fact check makes it clear that a misleading claim has been made by sharing an old video of Nitish Kumar. This video is from September 5, 2022, when Nitish Kumar met Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, and Rabri Devi before going to Delhi.
