On social media, news of Brindavan Gardens has gone viral, claiming “the famous UNESCO Heritage site ‘Brindavan Gardens’ outside Mysore is going to be destroyed forever. Siddu congress govt has sanctioned crores of rupees for this disaster.”
Fact Check
On investigation, DFRAC found a report from The Economic Times stating “The Karnataka Cabinet approved an INR 2,663 crore project to upgrade Brindavan Gardens the Krishna Raja Sagara dam through a Public-Private Partnership model”.
Moreover, we also found a report from the Press Trust of India (PTI) mentioning “The Karnataka Cabinet on Friday, July 26 gave its approval for a proposal to upgrade Brindavan Gardens at the bottom of the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam, across the river Cauvery in Mandya district, at an estimated cost of Rs 2,663 crore. The upgrade work will be taken up under the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model. The upgrade includes building hotels, upgrading KRS with illuminations, and including water sports,” Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil said, adding that it will be done on the lines of a fantasy park.
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the claim of users that ‘Brindavan Gardens’ outside Mysore is going to be destroyed forever is misleading as it is upgraded through a Public-Private Partnership model.
