Fake claim of terror attack outside Gurudwara in Delhi shared

A disturbing video has gone viral on the internet. In the video, an SUV driver can be seen recklessly driving the vehicle in the Gurudwara Campus and people can be seen rushing away. While sharing the video, social media users are claiming that the video shows a terrorist attack in Delhi’s Gurudwara.
The X user named @Khalsavision wrote, ” Terror attack outside Gurdwara Seesganj Sahib, New Delhi. Allegedly one “H” extremist ran over his SUV over numerous Sikh men, women & children”

Following this multiple other users were also found who were sharing the similar claims and videos.

Fact Check

We investigated the viral claim and the video. During the process we found the video on a YouTube channel named – Tinder TV Official. The video was posted on 10th April 2024 with the description “Last night a drama was done by a shopkeeper in the market of Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Patiala and after taking the tax he started driving the car at a high speed. And he tried to climb over the crowd, I have tried to show you the media coverage of this in this video”.

Here in the collage, you can see the comparison between reality and the viral video

Similarly, the viral video was also found on Instagram, shared on the same date as 10 April 2024.In the Instagram video as well, the location of the incident was described as ‘Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Patiala‘.

Taking the clue from the location mentioned, we looked for the media reports surrounding the incident. We found a report by Times of India dated 11 April 2024 where the complete incident with the same location of Gurudwara in Patiala was described. The report mentioned, “Ajit Pal Singh, 25, an SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) sewadar attempted to crush some bystanders under his jeep during his altercation with a rival shopkeeper at Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib’s market complex in Patiala. There were only two injuries reported from the scene and no fatalities.”

Furthermore, it mentioned, “Shrine’s SGPC-appointed manager, Karnail Singh, claimed that both shopkeepers in the altercation were Sikh.”

TOI

Conclusion

Therefore, the Fact Check confirms that the video was recorded in Patiala in April 2024, and not in Delhi. No terror attack in Delhi Gurudwara has been reported. Shrine’s SGPC-appointed manager, Karnail Singh, claimed that both shopkeepers in the altercation were Sikh.
