On social media, a picture of a man standing in a police station went viral. While sharing this picture users claim that this is Ahmad who abused Smriti Singh, widow of Indian Army soldier martyr Capt. Anshuman Singh in a comment and he has been arrested.
Fact Check:
On investigation, DFRAC found the same image in a tweet from DCPCentralDelhi official account on 6 July 2024 stating “Mohd Kasim, a proclaimed offender evading trial in a snatching case, has been apprehended by the diligent efforts of the team of PS Hauz Qazi staff. This arrest, based on local intelligence and surveillance, highlights the ongoing commitment to justice and community safety”.
Conclusion:
It is evident from the DFRAC fact check that the man in the viral image is not Ahmad who abused Smriti Singh, widow of Indian Army soldier martyr Capt. Anshuman Singh but Mohd. Kasim who was arrested in a snatching case. Therefore, the claim of social media users is false.
