A video showing some people conducting a rally has been recently surfaced on social media site X(Twitter) with the claim that Muslims are protesting in Chicago, USA and asking for not to buy groceries from Hindu stores which is run by Patels as they are funding to RSS.

An X user named Ashok Shrivastav posted this video and wrote: ”In Chicago, America, Muslims are taking out rallies to boycott Hindus. Muslims are being told not to buy anything from the shops of Hindus, especially Patel community”

Fact-Check

Upon reverse-searching the keyframes generated from the viral video, the DFRAC team found a tweet by Muslim Mirrordated June 19, 2022 with the caption: “Protest held outside Indian consulate in Chicago over remarks on Prophet Muhammad”

Additionally, the tweet featured an image depicting a person donned in white clothes which can be seen in the viral video as well. Here’s collage showing the similarity.

Furthermore, we also found a report by Muslim mirror from June 2022, stating that protests held by Muslim groups outside the Indian consulate in Chicago, US against insulting remarks on Prophet Muhammad.

It can be concluded that Muslims have not protested against Hindus in Chicago, USA.

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC’s Fact-check that the viral video claiming  Muslims are protesting in Chicago, USA has been misleadingly shared on X. Originally, the video was from 2022 and depicted the demonstrations held outside the Indian consulate in Chicago, US against insulting remarks on Prophet Muhammad.
