Fake claims of Indian Involvement in Iran’s Prez Chopper Crash goes viral

After the reports of the helicopter crash of the Iranian President, Social media users are claiming that there has been Indian involvement in the Incident.
The claim reads “Reports are coming in that Iranian intelligence and special forces have raided the Indian embassy in Tehran.”

Other users are also claiming, “Iranian intelligence agencies are currently on the lookout for an Indian national who was reportedly seen in the vicinity of President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter just hours before the President boarded it.”

Fact Check

The DFRAC team investigated the viral claim. During the process, we observed that there have been no media reports regarding any Indian involvement in the incident. Neither it has been reported about spotting any Indian near the Iranian President’s Helicopter. Furthermore, no raid has been conducted at Indian Embassy in Tehran.

Additionally, we investigated the viral images attached to the claim. We found that the first image shared with the claim was from 2015. It shows soldiers of Germany’s Special Forces Commando (KSK) taking part in an exercise near Putgarten, Germany on September 28, 2015.

Conclusion

Thus, it is clear that the viral claims are fake. No Indian involvement has been reported in the Iran President’s Helicopter Crash.
