False claim by Pak accounts linking it to recent Pulwama Encounter

Pakistani Accounts have been sharing a disturbing image. These users, while sharing the image are claiming that the dead body of an R&AW intelligence officer who was working secretly in a Kashmiri resistance group has been identified & eliminated.

A Pakistani account named PSYWAR Bureau ( @PSYWAROPS) has shared the image and wrote the claim, ” Indian security forces have found the dead body of a R&AW intelligence officer who was working secretly in a Kashmiri resistance group. A foreign country’s intelligence agency exposed his identity to the group, so they eliminated him and left his body behind.”

Following this, other Pak accounts also shared a similar image with a matching claim.

Fact Check

We investigated the viral claim and the image using a reverse image search. During the investigation, we found news reports by Kashmiri media outlets. In the news, we found similar images matching the claimed images. The news report informed that the image is linked to a recent Pulwama terrorist encounter by Indian security Forces where a local terrorist identified as Danish Aijaz Sheikh 34 yrs S/O Aijaz Ahmad Shiekh R/O Alnoor cony Ellahibagh U/PS Ahmadnagar, Srinagar was encountered.

Further, it informed that he has been missing since 27/03/2024.

Furthermore, a media report by the Bussiness Standard also stated, ” He was affiliated with the proscribed TRF, the spokesperson added. TRF or The Resistance Front is an offshoot of the LeT. According to the police spokesperson, arms, ammunition, and incriminating materials were found at the site of the encounter. A case has been registered and an investigation is initiated.”

Conclusion

Thus, from the fact check it is evident that claims made by Pakistani accounts are False. The image shared is of a terrorist killed in a recent encounter in Pulwama.
