A claim has been shared by frequent fake news peddler Sulaiman Ahmed(@shaykhsulaiman) with a video. It has been claimed that Lower caste Indian man humiliated by higher-caste individual. In the video, a man can be seen licking the shoe of the other man.
Fact check
We investigated the viral claim by using keywords to search. During the investigation, we found that the incident happened in July 2023 in Sonbhadra, UP. We found an official statement from Sonbhadra police where the police took action against the accused. The CO Ghorawal Amit Kumar said, “An FIR has been registered against this despicable act of the contract lineman and he will be arrested soon”.
Furthermore, media reports mentioned that as soon as the matter reached State Energy Minister AK Sharma, he directed to terminate the service of the accused electrician. Following the instructions of the Minister, the services of the contract workers were terminated by the department.
Conclusion
Thus from the fact check it is evident that the incident in a year old (July 2023) and the accused was arrested by Sonbhadra police.
