Fact Check: The DFRAC team conducted an investigation and found that the picture was not from Palestine. It is originally from Afghanistan in 2020. The image originates from Afghanistan and depicts a girl who, along with others, sustained injuries in a bomb explosion in the Shigal area of Kunar province in the northeastern region of the country on August 4, 2020.

We found the similar image posted on X, dated Aug 4, 2020 on the account named Republic of Afghanistan.

Another post dated Aug 5, 2020 on X also featured the same picture. The cation read , “Sad message!

At 10:30 today in Kunar Province, Shigal District Governor, 3 others including (2) female martyrs were injured in the incident.

The explosion is a crime, I strongly condemn it.

I call on the security and detective agencies to find the perpetrators as soon as possible and hand them over to the law”

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the DFRAC team’s investigation concluded that the viral image, purportedly from Palestine, was actually taken in Afghanistan in 2020, not 2024. The picture captures a girl injured in a bomb explosion in the Shigal area of Kunar province on August 4, 2020. Therefore, the initial claim associating the image with events in Palestine is deemed misleading.
